Gurriers – Pins
Where Nothing Happens Twice (W33) was the heaviest thing on “Nobody’s Coming To Save You,” “Pins” pulls in the opposite direction entirely.
It’s the fourth preview from Gurriers’ second album, out September 25 via their new label home Play It Again Sam, following Nobody’s Coming To Save You (W21) and “Party Lines.” The whole record was recorded across Attica Studios in Donegal and Holy Mountain Studios in London with the same team throughout: Mark Bowen of Idles and Loren Humphrey of Geese producing, Chris Fullard engineering, John Congleton mixing.
“Pins” leans into a 90s boom-bap-style production while keeping the band’s guitar core intact, and it’s the most vulnerable thing they’ve put out: a song about loving someone completely while struggling to find any love for yourself. Where “Nothing Happens Twice” ran hot and confrontational, this one goes tender and hypnotic.
Ahead of the album, there’s a UK and Ireland outstore record shop tour hitting Dublin, Edinburgh, Dundee, Liverpool, Nottingham, Cardiff, and Oxford. Plus, album launch parties in Manchester and London, before a genuinely massive headline run through North America and Europe into December.
